HOW WE HELP

Making sure no woman who served is left alone

Support, trusted advice and a community that understands - whenever you need it.

At the WRAC Association, we understand that life after, or even during service comes with its own challenges and transitions. Whether you’re looking for comradeship, facing financial difficulties, or simply feeling the weight of change, we’re here. We provide emotional support, welfare assistance and a community of women who truly understand each other, offering friendship and solidarity for every stage of your journey.

Through our Benevolent Fund, valued partner charities, and a nationwide network of branches and members, the Association offers help from grants and crisis support, to companionship, community events and ongoing friendships, making sure no woman who served is left alone, unsupported or forgotten.

The WRAC Association Benevolent Fund is available only to those who served in the WRAC or ATS, however for all cap badges your first port of call to access benevolence support is via SSAFA or RBL, please see full details below.

OUR WIDER SUPPORT NETWORK

At the WRAC Association we know we can’t do it alone and so we partner, refer, and collaborate with a broader network of trusted veterans’ charities to make sure our members get the best possible support.

  • The first port of call to access benevolent fund support from the WRAC Association is via SSAFA or RBL. Please get in touch with them via the contact details below. They will assign you a caseworker and refer you to the WRAC Benevolent Fund. We can help with support including mobility aids, housing adaptations, household goods and funeral costs.
  • If our own Benevolent Fund can’t meet someone’s immediate or complex needs, we work with external charities who have the infrastructure and resources to help. For example we partner with Lightning Reach and The Veterans Charity to provide rapid-response support for female veterans in hardship, covering essentials like food, heating and clothing.
  • Our partnership with Salute Her UK allows us to support treatment of women who have experienced trauma.

MEMBERSHIP SUPPORT GRANT

Helping you stay connected when times are tough

We never want cost to be a barrier to belonging. The Membership Support Grant is available to help WRAC Veterans who are facing financial difficulties but still want to remain part of the WRAC Association community.

It’s a simple, confidential process designed to make sure every woman who served in the WRAC, no matter her situation, can stay connected, access our events, and continue to benefit from the friendships and support the WRAC Association offers.

HOW IT WORKS

  • You contact us to let us know you’re struggling with costs to attend Association events
  • We have a short, friendly conversation to understand your situation and assess your eligibility. We will ask for proof of need.
  • If eligible, up to £200 can be awarded per year (no more that £100 per event)
  • Everything you tell us is treated in confidence.

The Membership Support Grant is here to ensure that every servicewoman has a place in the WRAC Association, especially when life becomes challenging. If you think you might qualify, please reach out. We’re here to help.
